Minister Vedat Işıkhan announces decision on amendments to the Unemployment Insurance Law

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced the decision on "Amendments to the Unemployment Insurance Law and Certain Other Laws" via his social media account.

Işıkhan stated, "To ensure our insured citizens can benefit more from the short-term work allowance, we are reducing the minimum number of premium payment days required in the last 3 years from 600 days to 450 days."

CHANGE IN PREMIUM PAYMENT DAYS

Işıkhan's statement is as follows:

"The Draft Law on Amendments to the Unemployment Insurance Law and Certain Other Laws has been submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

We continue to take steps for the benefit of our citizens to increase the effectiveness of passive labor market programs implemented using the Unemployment Insurance Fund.

To ensure our insured citizens can benefit more from the short-term work allowance, we are reducing the minimum number of premium payment days required in the last 3 years from 600 days to 450 days.

INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGE SUPPORT

We are extending incentive application periods.

To provide a qualified and certified workforce, we are supporting the participation of our citizens who hold vocational qualification certificates, as well as women and young people who require special policies, in employment.

The incentive period, which will continue to be applied until 31.12.2025 and can be utilized for up to 54 months, may be extended until 31.12.2026 with the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In this way, we are preventing potential grievances for our citizens.
