CATL deploys humanoid robots in battery production

CATL, one of the world's leading battery manufacturers, has integrated humanoid robots into the production process at its Luoyang facility in Henan province. This innovative step marks the first initiative to use humanoid robots in the mass production of battery packs.

According to the company's statement, the humanoid robots are specifically tasked with the final testing stages of battery packs. These robots, which autonomously perform high-voltage connection operations previously carried out by human workers, not only reduce safety risks but also improve production quality and efficiency.

Equipped with advanced visual perception and artificial intelligence systems, the robots can detect differences in connection points and adjust their movements instantly. CATL states that they have achieved a connection success rate of over 99 percent with this method and that the robots work at the same speed as experienced employees.

Capable of performing real-time error detection on the production line and switching to inspection mode, the robots can operate seamlessly across different battery models. The company states that these humanoid robots increase the daily workload by approximately three times compared to manual labor.

CATL emphasizes that this application, which it has launched at its Luoyang facility, is an important step toward the widespread adoption of automation and intelligent systems in battery production.
