Elon Musk's Ankara move remains inconclusive

Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has recently been making intensive efforts to enter the Turkish market with Starlink, the satellite internet service that is actively operating in many countries around the world. The company had previously submitted its application to officially begin operations in Turkey. However, it has been stated that approval from the authorized institutions has not been granted so far.

According to a report by journalist Olcay Aydilek, senior Starlink executives visited Ankara last month to include Turkey in the Starlink coverage area and held various meetings. However, it was learned that officials are approaching the use of Starlink in Turkey with caution, primarily due to security concerns. The project is officially available in approximately 160 countries worldwide, and the coverage map on the company's website currently lists Turkey as "coming soon."

While the question of whether Starlink will be launched in Turkey has not yet received a definitive answer, Elon Musk previously faced a similar bureaucratic process with the payment platform PayPal, which he also founded, as it has been unavailable for use in the country since 2016.

Starlink's primary goal is to provide high-speed internet networks to regions with limited access around the world. Thousands of satellites launched by the SpaceX company cluster in orbit to provide global coverage. Additionally, these satellites can sometimes be seen with the naked eye in the skies over Turkey, and images of them are frequently shared on social media.

New developments regarding the launch of Starlink's services in Turkey are expected to be announced to the public in the coming months. If the company receives approval, it is anticipated that there will be a significant change in internet access, particularly in rural areas and regions with weak internet infrastructure.
