Former Apple employee sentenced to prison after stealing self-driving car technology!

A former employee who once worked at Apple has been accused of stealing company documents, including technologies related to the development of self-driving cars. According to a report by 9to5Mac, this former employee, named Xiaolang Zhang, was caught in 2018 while attempting to flee from the USA to China and subsequently joined a China-based startup called XMotors.

Apple stated that Zhang acted suspiciously during the termination process. During the investigation, it was discovered that Zhang had stolen documents, including a 25-page document containing engineering schematics for a circuit board for the autonomous vehicle known as Project Titan, also referred to as the Apple Car.

Zhang had pleaded not guilty in 2018 but changed his plea to guilty in 2022 and has now been sentenced to 120 days in prison and 3 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $146,984 in restitution.
