Google to lay off hundreds of employees

Google, one of the world's largest technology companies, continues to lay off its employees.

The year 2023 was marked by new technologies as well as layoffs in the technology sector. Recently, Twitch announced that it would part ways with 500 employees. Most recently, it came to light that Google would lay off hundreds of employees on the hardware side. It is stated that the company is specifically making cuts in its augmented reality division, and it has also been announced that Fitbit co-founders James Park, Eric Friedman, and other Fitbit leaders are leaving the internet giant.

HUNDREDS HAD ALREADY BEEN LAID OFF

The company made the following statement on this matter:

“We are parting ways with hundreds of our employees in the DSPA (Devices and Services Product Area), and this layoff largely affects the 1P AR Hardware team. While we are making changes to our 1P AR hardware team, we will continue to support the AR experience in our products and AR initiatives, and continue to work in the field.”

Google, which was stated to have parted ways with nearly 1,000 people as part of this layoff, is now parting ways with hundreds of people globally in its advertising sales team. The internet giant, which said, “Every year, we go through a rigorous process to structure our teams to provide the best service to advertisers and we are renewing them,” unfortunately continues to deliver sad news.
