The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Digital Channels Commission convened under the chairmanship of AKP Hatay Deputy Hüseyin Yayman.

In his opening speech, Yayman stated that digitalization is a supra-political issue and holds great importance for Turkey's future. Emphasizing that crimes in the digital world are the same as those in the real world, Yayman stated that according to the TBMM internal regulations, the commission can take advisory decisions. He also noted that digital channels present a significant paradox in terms of public order and data privacy.

Yayman stated that the Digital Channels Commission is not a social media commission, but that there are serious problems regarding data privacy and the confidentiality of private life on digital networks.

Explaining Turkey's position in digital channels according to We Are Social's January 2024 data, Yayman announced that there are 57 million followers on YouTube, 57 million on Instagram, 37 million on TikTok, 34 million on Facebook, 20 million on X, and 16 million on LinkedIn. Yayman stated that Turkey ranks 7th in the world on X, 11th on YouTube, 15th on Facebook, 10th on TikTok, 5th on Instagram, and 13th on LinkedIn.
