It has been learned that the social media platform Instagram will change its square photo format.
Instagram has begun preparations to make a radical change.
It has been stated that the platform's square-shaped posts may be converted to vertical rectangles with the upcoming update.
Tests on the platform, which has been working on this design for several years, have begun with some users.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the following on the subject:
“The vast majority of content uploaded to Instagram today is in vertical format. Cropping them into squares is quite brutal.”
Stating that most of the content uploaded to Instagram is in vertical format, Mosseri expressed that it is quite challenging to fit 4:3 format photos or 9:16 format videos into a square, and therefore Instagram should abandon squares and switch to a rectangular format.
