Major updates on Instagram: Message editing and pinning have arrived!

Instagram announced a series of new features today. One of the most notable innovations was the long-awaited message editing feature. Additionally, it has now become possible to pin messages.

As one of the world's most popular social media platforms, Instagram was already highly preferred for messaging. However, there was a shortcoming: there was no way to edit sent messages.

But it has now been announced that this gap will be filled. The company introduced the editing feature for Instagram messages via a blog post. Several other useful features were also introduced.

The message editing feature, which is particularly useful for those who send erroneous messages, will be offered with a 15-minute time limit. This means you will only have 15 minutes to change a sent message. Once this time expires, no changes can be made to the message.

IT WILL BE INDICATED AS 'EDITED'

Using this feature is quite simple. Just press and hold the message you want to edit. Then, various options will appear. When you click the "Edit" option, you can change the message. However, as in other applications, changes made to the message will be indicated with an "Edited" label.

Message editing is not the only innovation offered in DMs. Instagram now allows you to pin a certain number of conversations. This way, you can keep your messages with the people you want at the top. The maximum number of conversations you can pin is 3. The pinning feature can be used by swiping the conversation to the left or by pressing and holding it. However, it should be noted that this feature may not have reached all users yet.

READ RECEIPTS CAN BE TURNED OFF

Furthermore, a feature has been introduced that allows you to turn off "read" receipts for everyone. You can change this option from the "Message and story replies" section in the settings. In fact, it should be noted that this feature has been in use for a few months. Normally, we could turn off read receipts through the settings of specific chats. However, now you can find this option in the settings section as a way to turn it off for everyone.

Apart from these, a few other minor features have been added. New DM themes offer different animations. It is also possible to save your favorite stickers. To do this, simply press and hold a sticker you like. The next time you open the stickers section, your favorites will appear at the top.
