Merger winds in the Turkish market: Two major phone brands gathered under one roof
Two smartphone brands frequently preferred by users in Turkey will now operate under the management of Oppo as part of a global restructuring.
The global smartphone sector has witnessed a major structural change. Realme, which has millions of users and is frequently preferred in the Turkish market, will continue to operate under the umbrella of its former parent company, Oppo, following a recent decision. This transformation, which has been discussed in technology circles for a long time, has thus officially been implemented.
With the merger taking place at the management level, the independent brand identities of Realme and OnePlus will be preserved. However, core departments such as strategy, product planning, and marketing will now be completely transferred to Oppo's control. Users will continue to see the brand names on their phones, but management and operational processes will be carried out through a centralized structure in the background.
Since Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus reach a wide user base in Turkey, it is not yet clear what changes this new restructuring will lead to in after-sales service and warranty processes. A detailed statement from the company on this matter is expected in the coming days.
Due to the use of shared infrastructure, it is anticipated that there will be greater hardware and software similarities between models. Nevertheless, the brands will continue their strategies tailored to their specific target audiences. While OnePlus will maintain its presence with its high-end and performance-oriented device profile, Realme will remain in the market with its price-performance-oriented models that particularly appeal to young people. Oppo will continue to be the group's central and innovative brand.
