New move from Google Chrome: Automatic cancellation

Google has added a new feature to its Chrome browser to improve the user experience. This innovation will automatically revoke notification permissions from websites that users have not visited for a long time. Thus, users will no longer have to deal with unnecessary notifications from sites they are no longer interested in.

This new system will be active on both desktop and Android versions. Google states that it developed this feature to help users regain control. Chrome will disable notification permissions associated with websites where the user is inactive in the background.

Google had previously taken similar steps with Android 11, automatically revoking camera and location access permissions for unused applications. Chrome's "Safety Check" feature was also able to remove camera, microphone, and location permissions for rarely visited sites. Now, this system has been expanded to include notification permissions.

Designed in a user-friendly way, this system will show a brief notification to the user when a site's notification permission is revoked. Users will be able to re-enable notifications at any time if they find this decision incorrect. Additionally, an option to turn off this feature completely will be available in the settings for users who do not want it.
