New wave of price hikes for PlayStation 5 models: Prices have risen again

Following the latest announcement by Sony, there will be a notable increase in the prices of PlayStation 5 models, which are closely followed by gaming enthusiasts. The price of the standard PS5 has risen from $549.99 to $649.99, which corresponds to an increase from approximately 24,500 Turkish Lira to 29,000 Turkish Lira. Following the hike, the PS5 Digital Edition has increased from $499.99 to $599.99, or from approximately 22,200 Turkish Lira to 26,700 Turkish Lira. The new price of the top-tier PS5 Pro model has risen from $749.99 to $899.99, increasing from approximately 33,300 Turkish Lira to 40,000 Turkish Lira.

Sony explained the reason for the price increase as "ongoing pressures in global economic conditions" and pointed to the rise in hardware costs. In recent months, in particular, the demand for memory chips has intensified due to the growing interest in artificial intelligence technologies. As manufacturers prioritize higher-profit data center chips, the supply of chips used in consumer electronics such as game consoles has decreased, and component prices have risen.

This price increase marks the second hike for PlayStation 5 models within the last year, following the increase implemented in August of last year. As is known, Sony also implemented a $50 increase across all models last year.
