Passkey feature coming to WhatsApp's iOS version
WhatsApp, the world's most popular online instant messaging application, is bringing the Passkey feature to its iOS version as well.
WhatsApp's iOS beta version 24.2.10.73 has revealed the "Passkey" feature. This new feature, currently in the development stage, aims to offer WhatsApp users a secure alternative.
WhatsApp, the world's most popular online instant messaging application, introduced a new feature called "Passkeys" for Android users last October. This feature provides users with a new and secure option for logging into their WhatsApp accounts.
Now, it has emerged that this feature is being added to the iOS version. The Passkey feature, spotted in WhatsApp's iOS beta version 24.2.10.73, may soon be available to all users, even though it is still in the development phase. This new feature will offer WhatsApp users on the iOS platform an experience largely similar to that of the Android version.
Once the Passkey feature is integrated into the iOS version of WhatsApp, it will provide an effective and easy experience for users. Users who close WhatsApp will be able to reactivate their accounts when they want to log back into the application by using Face ID, Touch ID, or their phone's passcode.
Users who wish to use the feature will be able to use a new section provided to set their own passkeys. This option is left to the users; while some may prefer the facial recognition method, older iPhone users will be able to log in with their fingerprints. Apart from this, users who do not want to use these methods will also be able to sign in to WhatsApp via their iPhone screen lock. Further information regarding when the feature will be made available will be announced soon.
