Social media post worries Samsung users

The AppCloud application, found on affordable Samsung models such as the Galaxy A, M, and F series, has become the focus of controversy following a social media post. It is known that the application was developed by the Israel-based company ironSource and suggests third-party apps during new device setup. This situation has raised concerns that it could be used for surveillance purposes, particularly in regions such as Africa, the Middle East, and India.

The debate was reignited when an X account named "International Cyber Digest" described AppCloud as "unremovable Israeli spyware on Samsung devices." This post received over 7 million views and drew significant attention. The Lebanon-based digital rights organization SMEX had also previously published an analysis claiming that ironSource collects user data.

The fact that AppCloud is a system application and cannot be easily removed by users is also causing backlash. Removing the application is only possible through special ADB commands that require technical knowledge. Although there is no definitive evidence that it is being used for espionage, there is speculation that Samsung may offer an option to disable AppCloud following the growing user concerns.
