State to pay 518 thousand TL to those who install solar panels at home

A significant step has been taken in the city of New Orleans in the southern United States to strengthen energy supply security. Thanks to the incentive plan unanimously approved in the city, residential and business owners will be able to easily install solar panels and battery storage systems. The incentive will be provided in the form of payments to cover installation costs and will create an opportunity for citizens to meet their energy needs more independently.

Short-term or sudden power outages have caused major problems in the region, especially in recent years. Now, with this system prepared under the name "Neighborhood Power Plan," dependence on the grid is being reduced while community resilience is being increased.

Users who have switched to the new system in their homes state that they are no longer affected by power outages. Z Smith, an architect in the region, says the following about the issue: "We don't even notice the power outage." Smith emphasizes that thanks to the activation speed of the batteries, they continue their daily lives without interruption.

People who have battery systems along with solar panels do not only gain protection against outages. They also have the chance to earn extra income by feeding excess stored electricity back into the grid. Thus, while significant decreases in energy bills are experienced, system owners can earn additional income.

A total budget of 28 million dollars has been allocated for this large-scale project. Within the scope of the project, priority was given to low- and middle-income households, and 40 percent of the allocated resources were directed to these groups. Officials state that energy sources created on a neighborhood basis instead of the central grid will provide security and continuity in critical moments.
