'Stethoscope' developed to monitor patients in real-time
The specially developed stethoscope will be able to monitor patients in real-time. This will allow doctors to track a patient's condition much more quickly.
The stethoscope is known as a tool that doctors have used for years to detect illnesses by listening to certain parts of the body. The wearable technology stethoscope developed by researchers at Northwestern University will be able to monitor a patient's heartbeat, breathing, or the sound of fluids passing through the intestines in real-time.
Currently developed as a prototype, the device can be placed anywhere on the patient's body. The device, which is quite small in size, is expected to make patient monitoring easier, especially in adults with chronic illnesses and in infants.

The device also features two high-sensitivity microphones, a memory chip, a battery, and Bluetooth connectivity.
One of the microphones records internal sounds, while the other records external sounds.
It is specifically noted that the device, which has been tested on premature infants and patients, provides data with a high degree of accuracy.
Dr. Ankit Bharat, a thoracic surgeon at Northwestern Medicine, said, "A significant advantage of this device is the ability to listen to and compare different parts of the lungs simultaneously." He adds, "Simply put, it's like having as many as 13 doctors listening to different parts of the lungs with their stethoscopes at the same time."
