Stress at an early age becomes dangerous in later years

Researchers examined data from 276 individuals aged 13 to 24 who participated in the Children's Health Study at the University of Southern California.

Participants were divided into 4 groups based on their stress levels: "consistently high stress," "decreasing stress over time," "increasing stress over time," and "consistently low stress."

IN LATER YEARS, THE RISK OF OBESITY CAN INCREASE AND THE LIKELIHOOD OF DEVELOPING HEART DISEASE RISES

As a result of their study, researchers determined that individuals with high stress levels gained more weight in later years, had a higher risk of obesity, and consequently, faced an increased risk of developing heart disease.

Furthermore, it was revealed that these individuals had poorer vascular health and higher blood pressure in their later years.

Fanqi Guo, a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Southern California and one of the authors of the study, stated in a release on the university's news site, "This study shows us the importance of stress management at an early age as a preventive health behavior."

The results of the study were published in the journal "American Heart Association."
