Tesla to recall over 2 million vehicles due to Autopilot issue

In a statement from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), it was noted that when the Autopilot mode is engaged in Tesla vehicles, the risk of collision may increase in situations where the driver does not maintain responsibility for the vehicle's operation and is not prepared to intervene, or cannot determine whether the system has been canceled.

The statement indicated that a software update for Autopilot is required to resolve this issue.

It was stated that Tesla will provide the update for approximately 2.03 million Model X, S, 3, and Y vehicles produced since late 2015. Tesla's decision to recall more than 2 million vehicles follows a two-year investigation conducted by the NHTSA into a series of accidents that occurred while Autopilot mode was in use.
