As competition in the smartphone sector continues unabated, sales data for the first quarter of 2026 has provided important clues about the general trends in the industry. According to the latest figures, Apple's iPhone 17 model took the top spot in the global smartphone market, standing out in sales rates.

The iPhone 17 series topped the list with a 6% market share in the published report. The Pro Max and Pro models of the series also drew attention as the other names in the top three. The top 10 smartphone models accounted for 25% of the total market.

NOTABLE HARDWARE IN THE YEAR'S MOST POPULAR MODELS

The iPhone 17 received intense interest from users with its new generation camera technology, increased storage capacity, and high screen refresh rate. Thanks to this remarkable performance, Apple achieved double-digit annual growth rates in markets such as the US and China. It was noted that the sales volume of this model in South Korea, in particular, increased threefold compared to last year.

On the Android front, Samsung left its mark on the top 10 with its strong Galaxy A series. While five different Galaxy A models found a place on the list, the Galaxy A07 4G, in particular, managed to become the most preferred device in the Android world thanks to increased demand in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The company's announcement that it would provide software and security updates for this model for six years also stood out as an important factor that increased user interest. On the other hand, Samsung's flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra failed to make the top 10 as its sales figures were not sufficient; however, it drew attention in pre-sales with its artificial intelligence features and innovative screen technology.

In the remainder of the list, devices such as the iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy A56, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A17 4G, and Xiaomi's budget-friendly model Redmi A5 drew attention. The first quarter of 2026, during which diversity in the smartphone market increased and competition intensified, showed that many phones, especially in the mid-range and budget-friendly segments, are on the rise.
