The paper era has ended at airports

With the new application launched by the Ministry of Trade, all Declaration Forms and supplementary documents related to air transport will now be submitted to customs units electronically. The system, which came into effect as of May 4, aims to provide convenience for both public and private sector transactions.

The Ministry's announcement emphasized that thanks to the digital infrastructure, transactions will be faster and more secure, and the manual workload will be significantly reduced with the elimination of paper documents. The new system is expected to make customs processes more efficient by both ensuring transaction uniformity and increasing data security and accuracy.

Environmental awareness is also among the significant benefits of the HGBS. Based on 2025 international flight projections alone, the fact that declarations and supplementary documents prepared for each flight will now be handled in a digital environment will prevent the use of approximately 10 million pages of paper per year. In this way, a significant contribution will also be made to sustainability goals.

With the implementation of the application, it is anticipated that both time will be saved and transaction costs will decrease. Ministry officials point out that digitalization will ensure that trade is conducted more quickly, securely, and transparently.
