Turkey's digitalization data: We spend 4 hours a day on the internet via mobile phones

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared digitalization data for Turkey. While 96.9 percent of the population connects to the internet via mobile phones, an average of 4 hours and 4 minutes is spent on the internet via mobile devices every day.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu shared important data regarding digital usage habits. Drawing attention to the dominance of mobile devices in internet access, Uraloğlu stated that the vast majority of users connect to the internet via mobile phones, saying, "We spend an average of 4 hours and 4 minutes a day on the internet through our mobile phones."

Minister Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding mobile data usage statistics included in the "Digital 2025 Turkey" report, prepared in collaboration with "We Are Social and Meltwater."

Reminding that Turkey has a population of over 85 million as of 2025, Uraloğlu touched upon mobile phone usage rates, stating, "80.7 million people, corresponding to 92.1 percent of our population, own a mobile phone. The number of people using the internet accounts for 88.3 percent of the population."

Stating that the number of internet users in the country has reached 77.3 million, Uraloğlu shared the following data regarding digital device ownership among individuals aged 16 and over:

"97.6 percent of internet users aged 16 and over own a mobile phone, and 62.8 percent own a desktop or laptop computer. 96.9 percent of internet users aged 16 and over use some form of mobile phone to access the internet. This is followed by smartphones at 95.2 percent."

Emphasizing that internet usage time increases every year, Uraloğlu stated that total daily internet usage has reached 7 hours and 13 minutes, adding the following:

"The share of mobile in this time is 56.3 percent. In other words, we spend an average of 4 hours and 4 minutes a day on the internet through our mobile phones. The daily time spent on computers and tablets is 3 hours and 9 minutes. Furthermore, mobile phones account for 73.1 percent of internet traffic in Turkey. Its closest follower, laptops and desktop computers, has a share of 25.5 percent."
