9-goal victory for AZ Alkmaar, opponent of Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray
AZ Alkmaar, one of the UEFA Europa League opponents of Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, achieved a historic result by defeating Heerenveen 9-1 in the Dutch League.
In the 5th week of the Dutch Eredivisie, AZ Alkmaar faced Heerenveen, managed by head coach Robin van Persie, on their home turf.
While the first half ended with a 2-1 lead for the home side, the red-and-whites pulled away in the second half. In a match where Troy Parrott starred with 4 goals, AZ Alkmaar left the pitch with a 9-1 victory.
The other goals for the Alkmaar side came from Sven Mijnans, Ibrahim Sadiq, Meerdink, Kristijan Belic, and Zico Buurmeester. The visiting team's only goal was scored by Luuk Brouwers.
With this victory, AZ increased its points to 13 after 5 matches.
