Acun Ilıcalı: I will convince Ali Koç to stay!

Famous television personality and Hull City Chairman Acun Ilıcalı expressed that club president Ali Koç should not leave his post at the yellow-navy club.

While emphasizing that Ali Koç has done very beneficial work for Fenerbahçe, Acun Ilıcalı stated: "He is someone who spends his time and money on Fenerbahçe. I think he will be more beneficial to Fenerbahçe. I stand behind my president. I will do everything in my power to convince Ali Koç to stay."

Responding to the question, "Will you become the president of Fenerbahçe one day?", Acun Ilıcalı said, "If circumstances require it, if something like that happens, I cannot say 'I will not be the Fenerbahçe president'."

Stating that the football climate in Turkey should not drive away valuable people like Ali Koç, Acun Ilıcalı had previously said, "There is only one solution to the tension and chaos in Turkish football. There is only one reason: our referees." Expressing that Turkish football is in a very difficult situation and experiencing its toughest days, Ilıcalı stated that the solution lies in foreign referees and used the following expressions:

"If a decision to implement foreign referees is made tomorrow, the tension will drop. As someone who tries to represent our country abroad, I think that just as foreign players and coaches come to our country, a foreign referee can also come. In England, when a referee makes a mistake, no ulterior motive is sought; in our country, ulterior motives are sought in refereeing errors. Trust is gone. When belief and trust are gone, chaos ensues. If we look at the last match, the Trabzonspor crowd is not the only aggressive crowd. If the match had been called off in the 60th minute, the issues being discussed today would not exist. In an environment where tension is rising, the referee says continue."
