Africa Eco Race, which began in Monaco, concludes in Senegal
The Africa Eco Race, which began in Monaco at the start of the month, has concluded at Lac Rose (Pink Lake), one of Senegal's iconic landmarks.
The Africa Eco Race, held for the 15th time this year and presented as an alternative to the Dakar Rally, which withdrew from the African continent in 2008, has come to an end.
ITALIAN PILOT CERUTTI SECURES VICTORY
In the rally that began in Monaco on December 30, 2023, competitors crossed the desert in Morocco and Mauritania, reaching the city of Saint-Louis in northern Senegal yesterday for the 11th stage.
At the first light of dawn, the pilots set off for the 12th and final stage toward Pink Lake, located approximately 35 kilometers from Dakar.
In the motorcycle category, Italian pilot Jacopo Cerutti took first place with his Aprilia Tuareg 660, while the leaders of the vehicle category were French driver Paulin Gautier and co-pilot Remi Boulanger in an Apache hybrid SSV.
Following the final stage held at Pink Lake, awards were presented to the competitors on the podium. The Africa Eco Race was first organized in 2009, after the iconic Dakar Rally left the African continent in 2008 due to security threats.
Setting out with a focus on sustainability and zero emissions, the Africa Eco Race consists of 12 stages, most of which take place in the desert, covering 6 thousand kilometers.
