Ali Koç explains why he fired Mourinho

Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç made striking statements regarding the process of Jose Mourinho's departure from the team during an event he attended. Koç stated that they had a friendly relationship with Mourinho but that their football styles did not align.

Koç said, "Bringing Mourinho to our team was a great success. However, we thought we needed to play a more offensive game at the end of the season. Being eliminated by Benfica is not the problem, but the way we were eliminated was unacceptable. This situation made it feel like the football philosophy of last year would continue. We need to play more dominantly in Turkey; we do not want to fall behind and try to come back in every match."

Ali Koç also touched upon Fenerbahçe's financial situation, stating that they have significantly reduced the club's debts and achieved financial independence. He remarked, "What is important for Fenerbahçe is not being debt-free, but financial independence. We now have the luxury of borrowing whenever we want."

Speaking about the election process, Koç sent a message to the voters, saying, "A new adventure or reaping the rewards of current investments? Looking at the boards of directors, they should think about who can better execute major investments."
