Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Sadettin Saran had stated that he would not run in the elections if Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç became a candidate, and had noted the following:

If our esteemed president expresses a will to run for office by Friday, as required by our word, we will withdraw from the elections in favor of our president and continue to support our club materially and morally under our president's leadership. In the other case, starting from Monday, we will announce that we are candidates to manage our club unconditionally; we will accelerate our efforts by focusing on our goal of immediate success without asking for time or patience, with our claim of being the most prepared management in Turkish sports history.
