Anadolu Efes emerges victorious in Turkish derby

In the 33rd week of the EuroLeague, Fenerbahçe and Anadolu Efes faced off in a Turkish derby. Anadolu Efes won the match, played at Fenerbahçe's home court, 82-80.

First quarter

Starting the match well, Anadolu Efes led the first 5 minutes 8-4 with points from Clyburn. As the remainder of the period continued with baskets from both sides, the navy-whites finished the first quarter ahead 16-13.

Second period

Entering the second period with a three-pointer from Sestina, Fenerbahçe took the lead in the 13th minute with a basket from Guduric: 18-16.

Against the yellow-navy blues, who found back-to-back three-pointers from Papagiannis and Wilbekin, Anadolu Efes utilized the paint effectively to gain a 32-29 lead in the 19th minute.

Increasing their defensive intensity in the final stretch and putting together a 7-0 run, Fenerbahçe went into the locker room leading 36-32.

Second half

Starting the second half well, Anadolu Efes leveled the score in the 23rd minute: 39-39.

The visiting team took the lead with a three-pointer from Pleiss in the 26th minute (44-45), while neither team could establish dominance in the remainder of the period.

Defending well on the final possession, the yellow-navy blue team entered the final quarter leading 52-51.

Final period

Both teams started the final period effectively on defense. Anadolu Efes was effective with fast breaks, and with a 3-point basket from Clyburn in the 34th minute, they went ahead by 4 points: 58-62.

Taking control of the game and utilizing the paint well, the visiting team extended the lead to 6 points with a three-pointer from Beaubois with 3 minutes remaining: 67-73.

Despite Beaubois's three-pointer in the final stretch, Fenerbahçe found consecutive successful shots from behind the three-point line with Papagiannis and Guduric, narrowing the gap to 2 points with 34 seconds left: 77-79.

In the final moments, both teams traded points, and Anadolu Efes left the court with an 82-80 victory.

With this result, Anadolu Efes secured their 16th win, taking a major step toward the play-in. Fenerbahçe, losing for the 13th time, suffered a blow to their top-four goal.
