Bay Nalçakan writes his name into the 100th anniversary of the Gazi Race
In the 100th running of the Gazi Race, held since 1927 in memory of the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, 'Bay Nalçakan' reached for victory as a record-breaking crowd attended the event.
The Gazi Race, one of Turkey's most prestigious horse races, took place this year at the Veliefendi Hippodrome, where sportsmanship and competition reached their peak. On this special day, which marked the 100th running of the race, the winner was the thoroughbred named "Bay Nalçakan," owned by Emrah Nalçakan and ridden by Halis Karataş.
This historic victory, celebrated with joy by owner Emrah Nalçakan, was a combination of the mastery of experienced jockey Halis Karataş and the performance of his horse. There was significant interest from sports fans in this meaningful race, which boasts a hundred-year history.
A total of 67 thousand 200 racing fans filled the stands at the Veliefendi Hippodrome. This figure was recorded as the highest attendance ever reached at the Gazi Race.
