Icardi was expecting a payment exceeding 5 million euros, including past-due amounts; however, when there was no development regarding the payment, he played his "formal notice" card. In short, the footballer knocked on the club's door with an official letter stating, "Either pay the money by March 5, or I will terminate the contract."
Waiting until the final day, Galatasaray managed to convince the player's side, secured an agreement to pay the money in installments along with interest, and the protocol between the parties was signed on March 6.
