Benfica cruises to victory with Kerem and Orkun

In the second week of the UEFA Champions League, Benfica faced Atletico Madrid at home. National footballers Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Orkun Kökçü started in the starting 11.

Kerem scored the opening goal of the match in the 13th minute. Having celebrated a goal against Red Star Belgrade in his first match for Benfica in the Champions League, Kerem managed to find the net in his second match as well. In the match, which ended 1-0 in the first half, the hosts increased the lead to 3 with goals from Angel Di Maria and Alexander Bah.

Orkun Kökçü stepped up to the penalty spot in the 84th minute to seal the score. Drawing praise for his performance, Orkun was named player of the match. The successful midfielder scored his 4th goal of the season. Benfica, which defeated Atletico Madrid 4-0, increased its points to 6 at the end of the 2nd week.

Kerem Aktürkoğlu, who joined the squad on the final day of the summer transfer window, has reached 4 goals and 2 assists in his 5th match. The 25-year-old footballer was replaced by Jan-Niklas Beste in the 71st minute of the match against the Spanish side.

The red-and-whites will host Feyenoord on Wednesday, October 23, in the 3rd week of the Champions League.
