Beşiktaş's new head coach has been announced
The new head coach of Beşiktaş is Portuguese manager Fernando Santos. The club announced Santos on its social media account with the message, "We welcome him to his new home."
Under the management of Fernando Santos, Portugal became European champions in 2016. The Portuguese football figure coached his country's national team between 2014 and 2022.
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH PORTO
Santos, who appeared on the pitch 216 times during his professional football career, managed his country's three major clubs—Porto, Benfica, and Sporting Lisbon—at various times. He reached a league championship with Porto.
He also managed the teams AEK, PAOK, and Panathinaikos in Greece.
The name of Dutchman Giovanni van Bronckhorst had also been mentioned for the Beşiktaş head coaching position. The Black and Whites had started the season with Şenol Güneş, and subsequently parted ways with Burak Yılmaz and most recently Rıza Çalımbay.
