Beşiktaş presidential candidate Serdal Adalı explains problems and solutions: There is a 100 million euro financial deficit

Beşiktaş JK Presidential Candidate Serdal Adalı met with journalists ahead of the extraordinary elective general assembly to share his thoughts on the problems Beşiktaş is facing and their solutions.

Adalı pointed out that Beşiktaş has been dealing with inappropriate issues for the last month and noted the following: "At this point, I must express with regret that what we have experienced, especially in the last month, has unfortunately tarnished the reputation of Beşiktaş. Intrigue, tension, plenty of lies, and inappropriate issues that should never be associated with the name Beşiktaş—such as commissions, forged documents, and countless others—have dragged our community into a chaotic environment. Financial losses can be endured to some extent. However, the reputation of our Beşiktaş cannot be tarnished in any way or under any circumstances. The board of directors and professionals who took office 1 year ago are obliged to respond to every allegation made against them and to prove to our community that no wrongdoing or irregularities have taken place at Beşiktaş. Those who are at fault must take responsibility and compensate for the damage caused to our club."

'MR. YÜCEL PLAYED DEAD'

Continuing his speech, Serdal Adalı addressed the community: "I must also mention the following points regarding this chaotic environment we are in. Mr. Aybaba said, 'They forged my signature; they made a 5 million euro offer without my knowledge.' The General Secretary said, 'Hüseyin Bey ordered this offer, and the president had it withdrawn.' He then said, 'Samet Hoca distributed authorization documents to agents despite not having the authority to sign.' Every day, on a different television screen, Beşiktaş club documents were shown as if they were ordinary pieces of paper. Some board members resigned one by one, and then said, 'We withdrew our resignations.' Our current presidential candidate, Mr. Yücel, has not uttered a single word or made a single statement regarding these issues to date. He has, so to speak, played dead. As you can see; those who promised institutional structure and transparency to Beşiktaş fans have unfortunately done the exact opposite of what they said. Therefore, they must first be held accountable for what they have done, and then perhaps they can say a word or two about the future of the club," he said.

'WE HAVE A DEFICIT OF 100 MILLION'

Stating that Beşiktaş has significant realities within this entire process, Adalı said, "We are facing a picture where our debt burden has increased by another 4 billion TL and almost all transfer fee payments have been deferred until after May 2025. Looking at this data, Beşiktaş's total debt has increased by 45 percent in just 1 year. We see that there is a deficit of approximately 50 million Euros in this season's budget until the end of May, and a second 50 million Euros until the end of December 2025. We are talking about a total deficit of 100 million Euros. On the other hand, all our revenues for the next 3.5 years have been discounted, and we do not have a single penny of income left. The point we have reached is the result of every manager applying their own transfer policy regarding football without any squad engineering," he said.

'I HAVE NOT PROMISED ANYTHING I CANNOT DO'

Emphasizing that he became a candidate for the Beşiktaş presidency without waiting for May due to all these crises, Adalı said, "It is high time we face what we have been through and turn a clean, white page. Despite all the perceptions and manipulations created against me during the last election period, there is no account I cannot give to Beşiktaş fans, and no issue for which I would feel embarrassed before Beşiktaş. I have never promised this community anything I could not do, nor have I shared any imaginary projects with my community. In return, I have always received love, trust, and favor from our community," he said.

'WE WILL RETURN BEŞİKTAŞ TO ITS ROOTS BY MAKING THE NECESSARY CLEANUPS'

Providing information about what their agenda will be during this process, Adalı said, "Our most important priority will be to repair our reputation, which has been damaged in the last month, within ourselves and to return Beşiktaş to its roots by making the necessary cleanups. We will unite our shattered community as soon as possible, rid it of divisive rhetoric, and show that it is the largest interconnected community in the world. By implementing a program that is economically sustainable, we will avoid seasonal and impulsive decisions. In this way, we will achieve sustainable sporting success," he stated.

'IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE FLASHY TRANSFERS'

Saying, "We will implement new projects that will generate revenue as soon as possible," Adalı said, "It is not possible to achieve consistent sporting success without implementing these projects and without closing the Banks Association debts and high-interest debts. Let's come to what we will do for sustainable sporting success and financial discipline in the next 3.5 years. We will return to the infrastructure order we have been talking about for years and mentioning in every period, and we will find young Turkish football players both in Turkey and Europe and bring them to our team in line with the work of our ready scout teams. For example, instead of taking on the 30 million Euro cost of a 34-year-old football player, we will create a young squad by transferring athletes with potential between the ages of 18 and 24. Do not believe anyone, including myself, who mentions various star transfers, A-plus coaches, or digital projects that will pay off Beşiktaş's debt in 4 years, as we heard in the last election. As of now, there is no possibility of having light shows or flashy transfers at Beşiktaş," he said.

'WE WILL SOLVE TRANSFERS WITH THE LEADING BUSINESS PEOPLE AND SPONSORS OF OUR COMMUNITY'

Pointing out that the current football team squad needs transfers in various areas, Adalı said, "We will solve the transfers we will make in the 2024 January transfer period with the leading business people and sponsors of our community, and we will not impose an additional financial burden on our club. The cost of just 5 football players transferred in the last 1 year is close to 100 million Euros. That is why it is impossible for Beşiktaş to make transfers through its own budget," he said.

'BEŞİKTAŞ WILL ENTER AN ERA OF INTELLIGENCE'

Continuing his words by saying, "Let no one have any doubt that we will make the most accurate decisions and take the most rational steps for our community," Adalı said: "As of December 30, Beşiktaş will enter an 'INTELLIGENCE' era that is realistic, solid, and knows what it is doing with all its sporting and financial plans. Beşiktaş fans can entrust their club, which they love like their own lives and protect like the apple of their eye, to us with peace of mind. We will bring our great leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's club, the glorious Beşiktaş of the Republic, to the position it deserves."
