In a statement from the yellow-navy club, it was stated, "Our efforts to strengthen our A-team during the mid-season transfer window are ongoing. Our club has begun transfer negotiations with experienced defender Leonardo Bonucci."
The statement also noted that the Italian footballer will arrive in Istanbul today for medical checks and detailed discussions.
Leonardo Bonucci began his career in the Inter youth academy, subsequently playing for Treviso, Pisa, Genoa, Bari, Milan, Juventus, and most recently, Union Berlin.
Bonucci has played a total of 666 official matches at the club level, scoring 46 goals and providing 12 assists. The 36-year-old defender, who has played 121 matches for the Italian National Team, has delivered a significant performance with 8 goals and 7 assists in the national jersey.
Bonucci, who has 9 Serie A titles and 1 European Championship with the Italian National Team in his career, was named Italian Footballer of the Year in 2016.
