Both of Manisa's former Süper Lig teams are now amateur

Following financial difficulties, Manisa's 2 legendary teams that once played in the Süper Lig, Manisaspor in the 2020-2021 season and Akhisarspor in the 2023-2024 season, have bid farewell to the professional leagues and will continue their struggle in the Amateur League. While Manisaspor, one of Manisa's 2 deep-rooted clubs, has been fighting for survival in the Manisa Super Amateur League for the last two seasons, Akhisarspor will compete in the Regional Amateur League (BAL) next season.

FIRST MANİSASPOR, THEN AKHİSARSPOR

Manisaspor, which played in the Süper Lig for 6 seasons and brought players such as Arda Turan, Caner Erkin, Hakan Balta, Selçuk İnan, Burak Yılmaz, Holosko, and Uğur İnceman to Turkish football, fell to the Regional Amateur League and then to the Super Amateur League in the 2020-2021 season while struggling with transfer bans and point deductions following the financial difficulties it fell into. Manisaspor, which has been appearing in the Manisa Super Amateur League with youth players for the last two seasons, finished the league in 7th place and will continue its journey next season.

Following Manisaspor, Akhisarspor, which performed successfully in the Süper Lig for 7 seasons and added a Turkish Cup and a Super Cup to its trophy cabinet, has also been relegated to the BAL with one week left in the TFF 3rd League.

Akhisarspor will play its final match in the professional league away against Darıca Gençlerbirliği on Saturday, April 27, at 15.00.
