Beşiktaş Manager Şenol Güneş resigns! Board calls for extraordinary elections
Following poor results at Beşiktaş, manager Şenol Güneş has resigned.
Following the 2-3 loss to Swiss side Lugano in yesterday's UEFA Conference League group match, Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş has resigned.
STATEMENT FROM BEŞİKTAŞ
The following statement was released on Beşiktaş's social media account:
"Our manager Şenol Güneş, who met with our President Ahmet Nur Çebi after the Lugano match, stated that a change in leadership was needed in the best interests of Beşiktaş and that he would respect any decision taken to clear the way for our club and team. As of today, he has stepped down from his position. We thank Şenol Güneş for his contributions to our club and wish him success in his future career."
The Board of Directors at Beşiktaş Club has decided to hold an Extraordinary Elective General Assembly meeting no later than the beginning of December.
The statement from the club is as follows:
"Our Board of Directors has decided to hold an Extraordinary Elective General Assembly meeting no later than the beginning of December. The date of the Extraordinary Elective General Assembly meeting will be announced at a press conference to be held next week. We respectfully present this to the public."
