Çaykur Rizespor reacts to referee and VAR decisions in Beşiktaş match

Çaykur Rizespor, which drew 1-1 with visiting Beşiktaş last night in the 18th week of the Spor Toto Super League, has expressed its reaction to the match referee and VAR. In a statement released by the green-and-blue club, it was noted that a gentlemanly contest was held with Beşiktaş.

The statement, which emphasized that both club managements and players managed to stay within the rules of fair play both before and during the match, included the following expressions:

"Unfortunately, the referee and the VAR team overshadowed the match with the decisions they made and failed to make. Throughout the match, many situations were called against us outside of football standards.

Throughout the match, a standard could not be maintained in many situations. The goal scored in the stoppage time of the match was canceled after a controversial and hasty VAR review, in a system where similar positions are reviewed for minutes; this behavior was the final straw.

No one with eyes could believe the line drawn by the technology. The fact that even the stoppage time of the match was not played in full was met with astonishment."

Emphasizing that Çaykur Rizespor supports sports in 22 branches, primarily football, the following was noted:

"At the same time, we continue to diligently fulfill our responsibilities to end the distrust created by referee errors, which is the great impasse of Turkish football.

However, it is a known fact that discussing referee errors instead of the football played on the pitch continues to drag Turkish football down. The decisions applied against us since the beginning of the season are accepted by the football public, and this makes our justified grievances on this matter clear.

By drawing attention to the points we have lost due to wrong decisions in recent years, we invite all clubs to work in solidarity to eliminate these wrongs.

Recalling the words of our late Independence poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, 'Who said that if I am mild-mannered, I am a submissive sheep?', we once again emphasize that all authorities must take the necessary measures, and we want our community to know that we will not remain silent in the face of any injustice."
