Chasing a record in freediving: Birgül Erken wants to inspire women

The Freediving World Championship, held in Kalamata, Greece, continues with the participation of 40 countries and 140 athletes. Competing in the master's group, Erken will attempt to improve her own Turkish record by diving to 36 meters in the constant weight without fins category.

In her statement, Erken noted that despite the fatigue of the entire season and health issues, she will continue to represent Turkey in the best possible way.

Stating that she will compete in two disciplines at the championship, which is the final event of the year, Erken said, "I am ready for the record attempt, and I want to dedicate the record I will break at this prestigious event to the struggle for existence of women all over the world. I have infinite faith that the strong women of the Turkish nation will have even better days and that we will overcome all difficulties. In this sense, I hope to be an inspiration to them."

Emphasizing that she came to the championship with her own resources, Erken thanked everyone who supported her.
