Crisis deepens at Altay: Debt reaches record levels, no presidential candidate emerges

Uncertainty continues to loom over the future of Altay, one of Izmir's legendary teams. Although the club will compete in the 3rd League in the new season, no one came forward to vie for the presidential seat during the extraordinary general assembly. While the meeting was postponed to a later date by the unanimous vote of the members, it was announced that the club's financial situation has reached alarming proportions.

During the meeting, it was stated that the club's debt has reached 19 million 539 thousand euros, which is approximately 1 billion TL. While Sinan Kanlı has been unofficially serving as the club president so far, the financial and administrative activities of the current president, Hüseyin Kanlı, and his administration were presented to the members for a vote. In the voting, both the board of directors and the supervisory board were acquitted by unanimous vote.

Club members took the floor during the meeting to evaluate the situation and exchange ideas. However, at the end of the process, it was decided to hold the continuation of the general assembly at a later date. With this postponement decision, which was accepted by the vast majority of participants, the date of the new meeting will be announced by the board of directors in the coming days.

It was stated that the extraordinary general assembly at Altay will continue from where it left off. It was emphasized that the next session will proceed with the current list of attendees and the established agenda. The critical meeting is planned to address the club's financial problems, administrative developments, and future plans. Altay, which competed in the Süper Lig for many years and brought unforgettable names to Turkish football, is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in its history today due to its debt burden and management problems.
