The Galatasaray men's basketball team was defeated 85-56 by the reigning Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion Panathinaikos, whom they hosted in a friendly match.

The yellow-red team, which finished the first quarter of the match held at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall trailing 17-12, balanced the game against the Greek representative in the second quarter, and the teams went into halftime tied at 34-34. Panathinaikos finished the third period, which they played better, with a 58-45 lead.

Panathinaikos asserted its dominance in the final quarter and left the court with an 85-56 victory. 

For the yellow-reds, Palmer with 14 points and Efianayi with 11 points were the two players to reach double digits. 

The match was watched from courtside by Galatasaray Club Vice Presidents Niyazi Yelkencioğlu and Mehmet Cibara, as well as board members Can Natan and Timur Kuban. 

DERBY JAB FROM ERGIN ATAMAN

Galatasaray fans showed their affection for Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman.

After the match, Ergin Ataman made a gesture referencing the derby by signaling 3-1 with his hand.

Ataman, who previously coached the yellow-red team and won championships in Europe and Turkey, was greeted with chants as he stepped onto the court. The experienced head coach saluted the fans in his classic style by shaking his two fists in the air.
