Dursun Özbek attended the memorial ceremony in Kahramanmaraş

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek and board members attended the memorial ceremony held in Kahramanmaraş on the 1st anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes.

In a statement made by the yellow-red club, it was noted that Dursun Özbek and board members traveled to the earthquake zone, and the following statements were included:

"The delegation first visited the Kapıçam Cemetery, where they commemorated Mehmet Nuri Dağ, a member of ultrAslan Kahramanmaraş who lost his life in the earthquake, at his graveside, and visited shopkeepers in the Kahramanmaraş bazaar. The delegation then attended a mawlid ceremony at the Galatasaray Sports Club and Nef Foundation AFAD Living Space. Following the prayers, our President Dursun Aydın Özbek inaugurated a library in the name of the late Cenk Serim, a member of ultrAslan Tekirdağ, and visited the homes of earthquake survivors."

Speaking to the club's television channel, Dursun Özbek said, "Today is February 6, 2024. Exactly one year has passed since the earthquake. Today is the anniversary. We were here the very next day after the earthquake occurred. As a club, we had urgently brought the necessary aid to the region. It was a great loss. May God have mercy on them all and grant patience to their relatives. Today, as Galatasaray Sports Club, we are doing everything we can to heal and soothe these pains a little. We have a permanent housing project. Therefore, we are here again to meet with those who lost their loved ones, to give them some morale, and to offer our condolences. There is a massive crowd."

Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk stated the following:

"Our President said 1 year ago, in the first seconds of the earthquake, that this support would never end. Under the management of Mr. Eray Yazgan, first the trucks set off, then the container city. We must also thank Mr. Erden very much there. With Nef's 500 containers and Galatasaray's 500 containers, there was an incredible contribution to this region. Under the leadership of our President Dursun, we said 'this support will never end' with permanent housing, and that is exactly what we did. We are here today on the 1st anniversary. We first went to the city cemetery and read our prayers for those who died. We are currently with the shopkeepers. We are experiencing sadness and smiles together. Life goes on, may their places be in heaven. May God grant patience."
