Dursun Özbek takes a jab at Fenerbahçe over the 5th star
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek spoke about their championship goals at the council meeting. Özbek stated, "Galatasaray's unity and solidarity cannot be stopped by anyone."
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek, in his speech at the council meeting, said that they want to reach the championship in football and attach the fifth star to their jerseys.
Making statements at the council meeting held at the Galatasaray High School Tevfik Fikret Hall, Özbek stated that all branches are continuing their path successfully as targeted and thanked the athletes and those who contributed.
Emphasizing that the football team has achieved successful results both in Turkey and in Europe, Özbek said, "We want to reach the successes we have longed for in Europe and win the 25th championship in Turkey to attach the real 5th star to our jersey. We will continue to fight for this until the end. Unlike others, we do not interpret statistics and figures as we wish, nor do we see ourselves as something we are not; we focus on our work."

Stating that they have been watching the developments over the last 2 weeks, Özbek continued as follows:
"Especially in football, unimaginable behaviors are being exhibited by various circles to hinder the performance and success shown by Galatasaray on the green pitch. As a club and a community, we are fighting against this. Everyone is watching the matches. The practices here upset all of us, the management, our community, our members, and our fans. The statements made, especially in the recent period, will not be at a level to prevent Galatasaray from reaching its goals. My colleagues and I are doing everything to overcome all these obstacles and carry Galatasaray to the success it deserves."
'THEY CANNOT STOP US'
Recalling the expressions he used in a television program he attended, Özbek said, "I made a very clear statement last week: 'Whoever reaches out for Galatasaray's success, effort, and the points it has earned, I will break their hand; if they set their eyes on it, I will gouge their eyes out.' I stand by this statement. Galatasaray is an exemplary club and Turkey's biggest sports brand. We fight on the pitch, and we cannot tolerate anyone setting their eyes on the points we deserve; we will make the necessary intervention. A major rival we compete with is chasing perceptions with unimaginable rhetoric. The people responsible for managing football, and especially the Central Referee Committee (MHK), are providing the necessary support for this perception."
Adding that the refereeing in the Sivasspor match was unacceptable, Özbek said:
"We have made the necessary applications regarding this issue. Our behavior is not aimed at creating any chaos in the sports community, but is entirely within the framework of seeking rights and justice. I hope that the institutions and individuals who manage football will take the necessary precautions in the coming period to prevent football from being dragged into chaos. Our institutions have published messages of support for this struggle we have entered as Galatasaray. I thank all our institutions that support us and everyone who supports us. Galatasaray's unity and solidarity have emerged in such situations. This is the foundation of us being such a big club."
Stating that they are waging a war against the attitudes taken to hinder Galatasaray's success, Özbek spoke as follows:
"I want to say something here to those who want to stop us that they do not want to hear. No matter what they do, they cannot stop us. The good people of this country, those who are right, have always won and will win again. We will win by earning everyone's appreciation with the good football we play and by always defending justice. I believe in this with all my heart, and I will continue this effort with my colleagues. I have only one request from you during this process. It is that you stand by us in this struggle from now on, just as you have stood until today. With this support, we will emerge successfully from every struggle. As long as Galatasaray is united, no one can stand against it."
