Dursun Özbek: The attack was carried out in an organized manner
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek stated that the attack on Uğur İris and his daughter as they were leaving a volleyball match was carried out in an organized manner.
Galatasaray Women's Volleyball Team's match yesterday was followed by Uğur İris, who was attacked along with his 14-year-old daughter as they were leaving. Speaking about the incident, Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek stated the following:
"Yesterday's attack was an organized act. After the volleyball match, people on motorcycles with covered license plates arrived and assaulted our general assembly member and his 14-year-old daughter, attempting to take their banners. They went to the hospital and obtained a medical report. I want our prosecutors to take precautions before these incidents escalate further. This level should not be exceeded anymore. I condemn those who organized this attack and those who incited them. I say that it is inevitable that the perpetrators will be uncovered."
Expressing that the tension should not be allowed to grow, Özbek said, "I have said this before. As tension grows, people who will take advantage of this will emerge. This must not be allowed. Our country is already experiencing a certain level of tension. We should not pour gasoline on this. I hope the derby we will play on Sunday will go down in history as a symbol of unity, togetherness, and brotherhood. It would be very good if this derby were not damaged by such rhetoric. The Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray fans here should watch us live," he said.
