Edin Dzeko: 'We showed character'

Fenerbahçe player Edin Dzeko spoke after the 3-1 victory against Çaykur Rizespor.

Evaluating the match, Edin Dzeko said, "I think we didn't understand the game in the first half. We didn't realize in the first half that football couldn't be played on this pitch. The field was very wet and full of water. We conceded the goal for this reason. The first half was difficult. In the second half, we realized that we needed to play a different game. We played long balls. It wasn't really possible to make ground passes on this pitch. Once we understood this, things started to get better. The 3 players who came on later added energy to the game. They changed the score. Big teams should do exactly this. When things aren't going well, they should show character like this."

Speaking about the pitch, Edin Dzeko stated: "We played under difficult conditions. The same conditions applied to Rizespor as well. Our opponent also realized that football couldn't be played on this pitch and played long balls. In the first half, there was no grass visible in the half we were attacking. It was full of water. It was also difficult for the goalkeepers. There was a lot of water on the pitch. Pitches should be good. For the sake of Turkish football, it should be better than this pitch."

Finally, Dzeko added, "This is me, this is my character; I don't like to lose. I always want to win. I love winning. Fenerbahçe is like this too. Fenerbahçe has gone through difficult periods. When we win, I go home happy. When we lose, I don't leave the house, I can't sleep."
