Emotional farewell from Arda Gezer after 16 years at Altay
At Altay, which once made a name for itself in the Süper Lig and is currently competing in the TFF 3rd League, Arda Gezer, who grew up in the club's youth academy, has bid farewell after 16 years.
As Altay continues its preparations for the new season in the TFF 3rd League, squad restructuring remains ongoing. The İzmir representative has extended the contracts of experienced players Murat Uluç, Deniz Kadah, and Sefa Özdemir for another two years, while parting ways with Kuban Altunbudak.
The latest name to leave the team is 22-year-old Arda Gezer. Having grown up in the Altay youth academy and worn the black-and-white jersey since the age of 6, Gezer announced on social media that he has terminated his contract unilaterally and left the club.
In his farewell message, the young footballer stated: "I have parted ways with the Great Altay, where I first walked through the doors of the sports school at the age of 6, where I proudly wore the jersey in every age category, and where I fought; where I laughed at times and cried at others. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all my valuable coaches, the executives who have contributed to my development, my teammates, and my brothers. I have no doubt that the Great Altay will return to the places it deserves as soon as possible. You will always be in my heart. Thank you, Great Altay."
The departure of Arda Gezer, who left a significant mark on the Altay community, has also caused emotional moments among the fans. How the club will restructure its squad ahead of the new season remains a subject of curiosity.
