Euro 2024 statement from Mehmet Büyükekşi! "It doesn't matter who we draw"

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi stated that the primary goal for the 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024), in which the A National Football Team will compete, is to advance from the group stage, adding, "Then we aim to progress as far as we can in the tournament."

According to the statement from the TFF, the Turkish delegation representing the country at the EURO 2024 finals draw, which will take place tomorrow at the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall in Hamburg, Germany, will consist of TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi, board members Mustafa Eröğüt and Hamit Altıntop, TFF General Secretary Taner Senseven, the national team's head coach Vincenzo Montella, TFF Foreign Relations and National Teams Administrative Director Buğra İmamoğulları, A National Team and Under-21 National Team Administrative Manager Mert Tuncay, and National Teams Communications Manager Türker Tozar.

"WE WILL PLAY LIKE THE HOSTS"

Making statements before the draw, Mehmet Büyükekşi expressed his happiness at participating in the European Football Championship, one of the world's biggest sporting events, by finishing as the leader of the qualifying groups for the first time in Turkish football history, stating, "We will participate in a tournament where we will play almost like the hosts in Germany, which has the highest number of Turkish citizens living outside of Turkey, with the youngest and most talented national team in Europe. We trust our A National Football Team and our technical staff. Regardless of which national teams we are matched with in the draw, we aim to first advance from our group and then progress as far as we can in the tournament. As the Turkish Football Federation, our goal is to create a national team that participates in all major tournaments. We aim for success to be sustainable. We aim to participate in all major international tournaments until the European Championship that we will co-host with Italy in 2032, and to play in the final in the tournament we host in 2032. We want to make the phrase 'The greatest is Turkey,' which we say after every national match we win, a habit. A championship awaits us where we will shout out the emotions our crescent-and-star flag gives us to the whole world by doing justice to all the games we play on the pitch."

Meanwhile, the A National Football Team will participate in the draw from the 2nd pot. In EURO 2024, 24 teams will compete in 6 groups of 4.
