Faruk Koca, who attacked Halil Umut Meler, to be kept under observation for 24 hours due to suspected heart attack: 'He is at vital risk'

The match between Ankaragücü and Çaykur Rizespor in the 15th week of the Süper Lig ended in chaos. Following the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, MKE Ankaragücü President Faruk Koca entered the pitch and punched referee Halil Umut Meler.

Koca, who fell ill after the incident, was brought to a private hospital in Ankara Çankaya.

Making a statement regarding President Koca's health condition, Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Erdoğan İlkay said: "Our patient, who previously had a stent inserted, arrived at our emergency department today with a blood pressure of 190/120 and a feeling of pressure in his chest. As you know, this is an incident that emerged following an unfortunate event. Due to changes in his ECG, he has now been placed under observation. Today, enzyme monitoring will be performed 3 times at 2-hour intervals over 24 hours. His blood pressure has now been gradually reduced to 150 millimeters. Treatment for chest pain has been initiated. Depending on the results of his second and third enzyme tests, we will decide whether or not to perform a coronary angiography. He will be kept under observation for the first 24 hours. His general health condition is currently good. He is currently under observation, and we will decide on our subsequent treatment plan based on the results of his enzymes."

Answering a question regarding claims that President Koca had left the hospital, Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Erdoğan İlkay stated that they said such things to disperse the crowd of fans in front of the hospital, and added the following:

"This is a hospital; when a crowd gathered in front of the hospital and started chanting, we had him admitted through the back door and then the upper door. That is why this was done. We ask all fans to leave the hospital. Other patients are truly being disturbed. He is at vital risk. That is why he is being kept here; he is being kept so that if a heart attack occurs, he can be taken for angiography immediately. 24 hours is an important period."
