Fenerbahçe Beko wins the EuroLeague derby!

In the derby match of the 17th week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Fenerbahçe Beko defeated Anadolu Efes 89-84 away from home.

Anadolu Efes started the Turkish derby in the EuroLeague with a starting five of Larkin, Beaubois, Bryant, Ercan Osmani, and Oturu, while Fenerbahçe Beko took the court with Wilbekin, Calathes, Pierre, Hayes-Davis, and Motley.

The match began with a 5-0 run by Anadolu Efes. Turning to outside shots, Fenerbahçe Beko brought the score to 9-8 with points from Calathes and Pierre.

Both teams found points in the remaining time, especially in fast breaks. The period ended in a 29-29 tie, with Oturu scoring 10 points for Anadolu Efes and Hayes-Davis scoring 12 points for Fenerbahçe Beko, both reaching double digits in the first quarter.

Anadolu Efes started the second period with full-court pressure, while Fenerbahçe Beko switched to a zone defense.

Following a 9-3 run by the navy-and-whites, Fenerbahçe Beko called a timeout: 38-32.

Returning from the timeout with a three-pointer from Yam Madar, the yellow-and-navies reduced the gap to 3 points with tough defense under the basket: 44-41.

The remainder of the period saw exchange of points, and Anadolu Efes finished the half leading 52-47.

Fenerbahçe Beko started the second half of the match with a 4-0 run, cutting the deficit to 1 point: 52-51.

With consecutive points from Shane Larkin, Anadolu Efes widened the gap again: 59-51.

Increasing their effectiveness under the basket with the entry of Papagiannis, Fenerbahçe Beko managed to finish the quarter in the lead with points from Hayes-Davis and Guduric on offense: 68-69.

Starting the final period with points from Beaubois and Larkin, Anadolu Efes went on a 4-0 run with a basket from Larkin: 72-69.

Playing tougher defense, Fenerbahçe Beko was effective on offense with Wilbekin and Papagiannis, entering the final 4 minutes of the quarter with a 79-78 lead for Fenerbahçe Beko.

After a timeout, the score reached 82-82 with exchange of points, but with a basket from Papagiannis and a three-pointer from Calathes, Fenerbahçe Beko took an 87-82 lead with 29 seconds remaining.

Having defeated AS Monaco, Zalgiris Kaunas, and Alba Berlin since Jasikevicius took charge, Fenerbahçe Beko won its fourth consecutive match with the victory over Anadolu Efes. The yellow-and-navies secured their 10th win in their 17th match in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Following losses to Maccabi Playtika, Bayern Munich, and Baskonia, Anadolu Efes also lost to Fenerbahçe Beko in front of their home fans, marking their fourth consecutive defeat and their 10th loss in 17 matches.

Fenerbahçe Beko will host Crvena Zvezda in their next match on January 2. Anadolu Efes will face Valencia on the road on January 3.
