Fenerbahçe executive Fethi Pekin explains: If Fenerbahçe is relegated, will it be able to go to the Champions League?
Fenerbahçe's executive in charge of legal affairs, Fethi Pekin, made a statement regarding whether the team would be able to participate in the UEFA Champions League if it withdraws from the league during the critical General Assembly on April 2.
Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Koç and executives, at Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium met with a group of journalists.
Evaluating the league match played against Trabzonspor and the subsequent developments, Ali Koç also spoke about the extraordinary general assembly of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club to be held on April 2.
At the meeting, Sabah columnist Gürcan Bilgiç, who covered Fethi Pekin's speech in his column,reported that Pekin stated the yellow-navy team could still go to the Champions League if they were relegated from the league.
"WE WOULD GO TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE"
In his statement, Pekin said, "Let's say Fenerbahçe does not take the field and is considered to have forfeited the remaining matches and is relegated according to the regulations. Since we would mathematically finish the league in second place, we could participate in the Champions League." he stated.
