Statement from Fenerbahçe on the Super Cup final! Response from CIMER shared
Fenerbahçe has issued a statement regarding the process surrounding the cancellation of the Super Cup, which was to be played in Saudi Arabia.
The Super Cup match between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, which was planned to be played in Saudi Arabia, had been cancelled following the events that took place. Fenerbahçe Club has issued a statement regarding the developments in the process following the cancellation of the match.
The statement issued by Fenerbahçe is as follows:
"The Super Cup match, which was planned to be played between Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. and Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. on December 29, 2023, was cancelled as a result of a mutual agreement reached between the participating teams and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
Following the announcement of the cancellation decision to the public by the TFF and the clubs, a great deal of information containing manipulation regarding the processes that took place was disseminated, and baseless slander and accusations were made against our President, Ali Y. Koç.
When considering the publications made, the news and comments written in the visual media, as well as the posts made on social media, it is clearly seen that the focus of the matter is not the Super Cup final.
Upon the attempt to attribute the responsibility for all events specifically to our President, Ali Y. Koç, while completely ignoring the TFF and the other participating club, we have made requests to the relevant institutions of our state for a detailed investigation of all the processes that took place.
Within the scope of these requests; applications were made to the Center for Combating Disinformation twice, on January 3, 2024, and February 14, 2024,
To the TFF on January 5, 2024,
To the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey on February 14, 2024, and to the Presidential Communication Center (CIMER) on the same date.
To date, we have only received a response from CIMER regarding our applications, as seen below.
"Your application numbered 2400617193, which you made to the Presidential Communication Center (CIMER) of the Republic of Turkey, was answered on 16.02.2024*
Response Text: The principles and procedures regarding the establishment, organization, duties, and powers of the autonomous Turkish Football Federation, which is subject to private law provisions and has legal personality, to conduct, organize, and develop all kinds of football activities according to national and international rules, and to represent Turkey in football matters both domestically and abroad, are regulated in the Law on the Establishment and Duties of the Turkish Football Federation No. 5894. According to both Law No. 5894 and FIFA and UEFA rules, the Turkish Football Federation is autonomous, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports does not have hierarchical or administrative guardianship authority over the federation's decisions and actions. For this reason, as there is no action that can be taken by the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding applications related to the TFF, you must make your application directly to the Turkish Football Federation.
Submitted for your information."
As a result of the perception management efforts targeting both our Club and our President, Ali Y. Koç, our determined stance on ending the misinformation in the public eye will continue.
We hereby inform the public that we will persistently follow up on our relevant applications."
