Striking claim from Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association President Emrah Tünay about Ali Koç: 'He threatened me'
Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association President Emrah Tünay has alleged that Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç visited the association and threatened him and his staff.
Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association Board Chairman Emrah Tünay has made statements regarding the events that took place last night.
Regarding the incident, which he stated occurred during the night, Tünay reported that Koç came to the association and targeted him with the words, "How are the preparations for the provocation tomorrow going?" and subsequently said, "I don't believe in the signatures you have collected; you are collecting fake signatures." According to Tünay, during a private conversation, Ali Koç made a threat by saying, "Pray that my presidency doesn't end. If it ends, as long as I am breathing, I will deal with you personally."
The statement made by Emrah Tünay on his social media account is as follows:
"Last night, around 22:20, a highly distressing incident occurred that casts a shadow over club democracy, freedom of expression, and the most fundamental rights of civil society.
As is known, for some time now, as the Fenerbahçe Volunteers Association, we have been running a signature campaign under the slogan 'A Signature for the Future,' exercising our right to criticism on behalf of our community.
We are inviting our esteemed congress members to sign for our club to take an extraordinary general assembly decision, in accordance with our bylaws and the current provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey.
However, unfortunately, Mr. President Ali Koç came to our association last night with his fellow executives Burak Kızılhan and Can Gebetaş, openly threatened me and our association staff, and clearly attacked our highly democratic rights, which are determined by our bylaws.
As soon as Mr. Ali Koç entered our center, he asked for me, the association president, with an angry attitude, saying, "How are the preparations for the provocation tomorrow going?" After I introduced myself, we headed to a table to talk. He then made the statement, "I don't believe in the signatures you have collected; fake signatures are being collected," and added, "You are stirring up the community."
After arriving at the table, he moved to an area where the camera could not see and invited me over; I followed him, and we began a private conversation.
In our private conversation, Mr. Ali Koç began to share private information about me and ask questions, trying to project the image that "I have all the information about you." He then said that if any major incidents occur before or during the match to be played today, he would hold me personally accountable, and claimed that we were collecting fake signatures. He reacted harshly to the presence of a notary at our association on match day. He then made the threat, "Pray that my presidency doesn't end. If it ends, as long as I am breathing, I will deal with you personally."
Mr. Ali Koç has never visited our association during his seven-year presidency, has not attended any of the events of our association, which has many club members, HAS NOT GRANTED ACCREDITATION TO OUR ASSOCIATION, and has not established warm relations with us in any way. From this perspective, we leave the purpose of Mr. Ali Koç's sudden visit last night, due to our association exercising its democratic rights, to the discretion of the public. The incident is not just a clear indicator of an oppressive mentality, but a scandal that will be noted in the history of Fenerbahçe.
Fenerbahçe SK has been a club that has not bowed to pressure throughout its history and has defended democratic values. We will continue to stand tall against any interference with these values.
We respectfully inform the public that we will initiate the necessary legal processes regarding the incident and that we will fight with all our determination to ensure that this unjust attack is accounted for before justice.
We will not allow anyone to try to silence the voices of volunteers by using the power of the position they hold.
I invite all Fenerbahçe fans to take a stance in favor of democracy with a common-sense but determined attitude and to support the signature campaign."
