FIFA imposes penalty on Galatasaray!
FIFA has issued a ruling following an application by Hannover 96, citing Galatasaray's failure to fulfill transfer fee payments for Derrick Köhn. Galatasaray has been ordered to pay the overdue 2.5 million euros, as well as an additional 300 thousand euros in compensation to Hannover 96.
A decision has been reached regarding Galatasaray, who were reported to FIFA for failing to pay the transfer fee for German-born Ghanaian footballer Derrick Köhn.
Galatasaray had transferred Derrick Köhn from Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96 during the 2023-2024 mid-season transfer window. The 25-year-old player, who signed with the yellow-reds for a transfer fee of 3 million 350 thousand euros, was loaned to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen at the beginning of the season.
HANNOVER'S APPLICATION TO FIFA
It was alleged that Galatasaray, having paid 1.5 million euros of the transfer fee, had delayed the remaining 2.5 million euros. Following this, it was reported that Hannover 96 filed a complaint against the yellow-reds with FIFA.
2.5 MILLION EUROS PAID
According to Fanatik, citing the German press, Galatasaray took action upon receiving a warning from FIFA and paid the 2.5 million euros to the German club in a single installment.
300 THOUSAND EUROS COMPENSATION
A compensation ruling was also issued against Galatasaray due to the delayed transfer fee for Derrick Köhn. FIFA ordered the payment of 300 thousand euros in compensation to Hannover 96. The yellow-reds have also deposited this penalty into the German club's account.
